Thymus serpyllum - Hardy perennial. 15-20 cms height, 30-60 cms width. Full sun to part shade. Well drained soil. Grows well in normal to sandy soil, and tolerates dry, shallow rocky soil. Doesn't like overly wet soils. Compact dense foliage, makes for an excellent ground cover. Dark green leaves. Pink-purple flowers in the summer. Flowers attractive to bees and butterflies. Drought resistant once established. Culinary herb. Fast growth rate. Eaten by sheep and goats, it’s a good milk tonic for them and they enjoy eating it. Tonic and worm expellant plant for farm animals.
