Sorrel, Red Veined-Rumex sanguineus - Hardy perennial. Herbaceous in cooler areas. 30-50 cms height, 30-50 cms width. Full sun to part shade. Lovely green leaves with distinct red veining. Stalks of small flowers in the summer. Prune back after flowering to help rejuvenate foliage. Edible and ornamental herb. Easy to grow plant. Will grow in most soil types, even clay. Prefers a moist soil, and can also be grown on a pond margin. Remove old discoloured leaves to help promote new leaf growth. Frost hardy. Green, brown and dark grey dyes can be obtained from roots of this herb.
