Sanguisorba minor - Easily grown edible perennial herb. Full sun to part shade. 40 cms height, 30 cms width. Medicinal plant. Edible leaves can be eaten raw or cooked. Leaves have a cucumber flavour. A good cut and come again plant, leaves harvested as required. A tea can be made from the dried leaves. Clump forming growth habit. Purple flowers held on spikes, produced from spring until autumn. Grows well in pots. Salad burnet has a long history of culinary and medicinal use. A hardy plant. A good edible plant for animals, especially small ones including guinea pigs and rabbits. Will grow in most moist soil types and will even grow in poor soil.
