Salvia sclarea - Biennial or short lived herbaceous perennial. 90 cms height, 60 cms width. A medicinal plant, leaves and flowers also used to make a tea. Very attractive lilac, white or pink flowers produced in the second year. Requires a well drained soil, but will grow in most soil types. Very attractive to bees, butterflies and other beneficial insects. Will grow in coastal gardens. A very cold hardy plant. Aromatic plant. The leaves are large heart shaped and covered in tiny white hairs. Water regularly in hot weather.
