Rosa canina - Deciduous shrub. 1-5 metres height. Pale pink fragrant flowers. Full sun to part shade. The hip is red orange in colour, and look very attractive on the plant. The hips are edible and very high in vitamin C. They can be used to make syrups, jams, tea, wine and marmalade. The petals and hips are medicinal. The petals are also edible. Heat and drought tolerant once established. Frost tolerant. Grows well in most well drained soil types. Attractive arching growth habit. A good edible and medicinal plant for farm animals as well. Our goats especially love eating it!
