Allium ampeloprasum ‘Pearlzweibel’ - A very old hardy heirloom allium originating from Germany. A similar growth habit to Garlic, but instead of cloves Pearlzweibel produces solid spherical bulbs. They do not have layers like onions. Plant in deep rich soil in full sun. Harvest when leaves die back. They can be eaten fresh or pickled. Used a lot in French and German cuisine. Delicious in soups, stews, casseroles, relishes and even in your favourite cocktail.
