Hermerocallis fulva - This is the original Hermerocallis fulva, not a hybrid. Not just a beautiful hardy plant, but also has traditional edible and medicinal uses. Leaves, young shoots, flowers, flower buds and tubers are all locally harvested for food and medicine. A vigorous grower, so like mints, probably best in pots or free in a large space. Full sun to part shade in most soils. Frost hardy. Orange-red flowers from summer through autumn, with each flower only lasting one day.
