Mimulus guttatus - A hardy perennial bog garden plant, that will also grow in water, up to about 10cms deep. Prefers part shade. 60 cms height, 70 cms width. Grows in most soil types, including heavy, wet clay. A very cold hardy plant. An edible and medicinal plant. Leaves can be eaten raw or cooked. Monkey flower produces quite large for its size pretty yellow tubular flowers in profusion in spring and summer. A fast growing ground cover. A traditional food of the Native American Indians. Will grow in coastal gardens.
