Mentha x niliaca - Hardy, herbaceous perennial. 60 cms height. Upright stems. Prefers rich, moist soil in part shade. Water regularly, especially during hot weather.  Summer flowering. Flowers attract bees and butterflies. Regular harvesting or pruning during the growing season encourages new bushy growth. Good companion plant to cabbages and tomatoes. Tea made from the leaves. Excellent culinary herb, used especially  in middle eastern dishes. The flavour and aroma is milder than other mints.
