Mentha x piperita var. Citrata - Hardy rhizomatous perennial. 60 cms height.Full sun to part shade, although mints prefer shade, full sun is tolerated and increases essential oil production. Very aromatic plant. Mauve flowers in summer. Flowers very attractive to bees and butterflies. Dark green foliage with purple highlights. Frost hardy. Grows in most moist soils. Can also be grown in shallow water, around pond edges or wet areas in the garden. Medicinal herb. A tea is made from the fresh or dried leaves. The leaves are edible, but they have a very strong flavour. Easy to grow plant. Companion plant to cabbages and tomatoes.
