Mentha requienii - Hardy perennial herb. 1-10cms height, 30 cms width. A highly fragrant ground cover, for moist areas, with an attractive carpet forming growth habit. Mauve flowers in summer, held above the foliage. Small bright green leaves. The plant has a strong peppermint aroma. Grows well in walkways or between stepping stones, and releases an aroma when walked on. Corsican mint prefers shaded conditions. Frost hardy. Grows in most soil types, even heavy clay. A culinary mint also, and a tea can be made from its leaves. Flowers attract bees and butterflies. Evergreen in some areas, but will die back in really cold winters and re-grow in the spring. Good ground cover under trees.
