Lobelia siphilitica - Herbaceous, long lived perennial. 60 cms height, 30-50 cms width. Full sun to part shade, but prefers some afternoon shade in hot summer climates. Moist soil, can grow in standing water, or in bog gardens. This plant needs its soil to be kept constantly moist. Spikes of long lasting blue flowers, can be up to 60 cms high, from summer to autumn. Clump forming grow habit. Prefers a rich soil. Flowers attractive to butterflies and make could cut specimens. A medicinal plant, used by native north Americans.
