Cardamine pratensis - Herbaceous perennial. 25-40 cms height. Part to full shade, doesn’t like being planted in full sun. Flowers can be pink, blue, mauve or white and appear in clusters in spring and summer. Flowers attract butterflies. Leaves and flowers used medicinally. Leaves edible and are rich in vitamins and minerals. Eaten freely by goats and sheep, it contains tonic and blood cleansing properties for them. Grows best in a moist soil, can be grown on pond edges and bog gardens. A good plant for a waterlogged, shady area of the garden.
