Kalimeris indica - Herbaceous perennial edible plant. 50 cms height. Prefers part shade. Pretty yellow centred purple or white flowers in the Spring. Indian Aster is used widely in Asian cuisine and is considered a delicacy there. Young leaves a d stems are used in cooked and salad dishes, Indian Aster can be eaten raw or cooked. It also has medicinal uses. Prefers well drained, but moisture retentive soils.
