Zingiber purpureum - A south east Asian native perennial zingiber. Uses include medicinal and culinary. A beautiful tropical looking plant, that produces interesting reddish/ purplish/brownish coloured flowers. The rhizome is used in various dishes, and the rhizome and leaves are used medicinally. Best grown in part shade.
