Houttuynia cordata - Hardy, herbaceous perennial. 30-70 cms height. Likes moist, shady areas, but will grow in full sun to part shade. Can be grown partially submerged in water. A fast growing plant, that can become invasive. A culinary herb, that has a fishy taste, and is used especially in Vietnamese and Chinese cuisine. The young shoots are eaten raw or cooked. A medicinal plant, used in traditional Chinese medicine. Produces pretty white flowers in the summer. A frost hardy plant. Will grow in most soil types.
