Foeniculum vulgare - Hardy perennial herb and vegetable. 1.5 metres height. Aromatic and attractive plant. The bulb, foliage and seeds all edible. You can also use the leaves and the seeds to make a herbal tea. Frost hardy. Grows well in coastal gardens. Medicinal herb also, with a long history of medicinal use. Yellow and brown dyes can be made from the flowers and leaves. An easily grown plant, succeeding in most well drained soil types. Drought tolerant once established. Yellow flowers, held in umbels, attract many beneficial insects to the garden. Plants and bulbs can be fed to your animals also.
