Sambucus nigra 'Marginata' - Hardy herbaceous perennial. Height 1.5 to 2 metres, width 1 to 1.5 metres. Full sun to part shade. Beautiful green and white variegated foliage. Scented small white flowers held in clusters, in spring and summer. Lovely arching branches. Produces black edible fruits, but should not be eaten raw. Fruits can be used to make pies, jams and wines. Berries rich in vitamin C, phosphorus and potassium. Flowers and berries attract bees, birds and butterflies. Fast growing. Grows in most soil types, provided they are kept moist.
