Sambucus ebulus - A beautiful European native perennial plant, used edible plant. An important medicinal herb since ancient times, with many medicinal uses. The berries are used cooked in a variety of traditional dishes. Berries are toxic raw and must be properly cooked to be consumed. The whole plant grows to about a metre tall by about a metre wide. European Dwarf Elderberry produces white, sometimes pink flowers followed by black berries. The fruit and the roots are used to produce dyes. Full sun to part shade in most moist soils . A great plant for the collector of medicinal plants
