Sambucus nigra ‘Black Beauty’ - Hardy perennial, deciduous herb. Shrub to 3 metres height. Full sun to part shade. Beautiful purple/ black leaves, and pretty pink, lemon scented, umbels of flowers. Black Beauty’s flowers are very attractive to bees. The flowers are followed by black berries, edible when cooked and can be used to make wine. Prefers a moist soil, and will also grow in wet locations. Leaves turn bright crimson in the autumn. Spreads to form a clump. Frost hardy
