Ruta chalepensis - A Mediterranean native perennial herb. A long history of use around the Mediterranean region, as a culinary herb and flavouring spice. Ancient Roman recipes have been found using it.A long history of use in Crete also. Introduced into Ethiopia and widely cultivated there for a variety of culinary, medicinal and ceremonial uses.Also used widely in the Middle East. Beautiful yellow fringed flowers from spring through to autumn. A fragrant smaelling plant, leaves being rich with oil glands. I have found it to be hardy and grows well in most soil types, in full sun to part shade. A rare plant. DO Not consume when pregnant.
