Leontopodium alpinum - Herbaceous perennial. Full sun, part shade in hotter areas. 810-20 cms height, 30 cms width. Used in traditional folk medicine. Leaves and flowers are covered in small white hairs. A rare and endangered plant, protected in many of its native areas. Grows in most well drained soils. Very unusual looking flowers, silvery white in colour. Flowering in spring and summer. Silvery green coloured foliage. Doesn’t like too much water. Frost hardy, will even survive snowfall.
