Allium tuberosum - Hardy perennial. 40 cms height. Full sun to part shade. White scented flowers throughout summer. Green flat leaves, with a mild garlic flavour. Leaves grow from an underground bulb. Bulbs multiply into clumps. An easy to grow edible plant. The leaves, bulbs and immature unopened flower buds can be eaten. Can harvest leaves quite regularly. In warmer areas the leaves will remain green all year round, in colder areas the leaves will die back and regrow in the spring. Will grow in most soils, but prefers a rich, moist but well drained fertile soil. Water regularly, especially in hot weather. Frost and drought tolerant once established.
