Boesenbergia rotunda - Hebaceous perennial, from Eastern Asia, growing to 80 cms height. Rhizomes, hearts of stems, Young leaves and shoots are all consumed as both a food flavouring as as vegetables. They are used in anumber of traditional dishes. Chinese Keys also have various traditional medicinal uses. Grows best in full sun to part shade in well drained soil rich in organic matter.
