Cichorium intybus ‘Magdeburg’ - This heirloom variety of Chicory has a larger root than the others, making them good for use as a cafeine free coffee substitute. The leaves are still edible on the plant, good raw or cooked. They are great consumed for both humans and animals. The root is also edible , much enjoyed roasted. Coffee Chicory also has same medicinal properties as common Chicory.
