Apium graveolens var. secalinum - A European heirloom variety of leaf celery. A great, productive plant, producing delicious repeat harvest leaves and stems. The seeds are also edible. These plants have a stronger flavour than common celery. Can be used raw or cooked. Leaves can also be dried for later use. Prefers a rich moist soil, and I like to give them some shade in the summer. Leaf celery is also used medicinally. These plants can sometimes be a little slow to get going, but once they are established they are very productive.
