Ruscus aculeatus - A spiky perennial European herb. Once used as scourers for various food preparation surfaces and cooking pots. It also has edible and medicinal attributes. Grows up to about 1 metre height. Grows well in most soil types. Prefers a shaded position. I have mine growing in about 50% shade and it is happy.
