Polygonum bistorta - A perennial herb, once cultivated as a perennial vegetable and medicinal plant. The leaves, root and seed are edible. Prefers moist to wet soil, in full sun to part shade, giving afternoon shade in hot temperatures. I have mine growing here in shallow water. Bistort has really pretty pink scented flowers produced en masse through spring and summer. The seeds are a great conditioner for poultry.
