Ocimum selloi - Perennial basil. Full sun to part shade, but best grown in part shade as leaves will become tough if grown in full sun. Excellent culinary herb, with the flavour of capsicums and basil mixed together. Used as a mosquito repellent. Also has ornamental value, with large glossy green leaves and reddish pink flowers. Flowers produced continuously through spring and summer. More cold hardy than other basils. Leaves can be frozen or dried for later use. Prefers a rich, well drained soil.
