Aloe vera -  Perennial. 40-60 cm height. Full sun to part shade. Well drained position, allow to dry out between watering. Long succulent green leaves. Long flower spikes of orange or yellow flowers. Needs protection from frosts. In frost prone areas best grown in a pot that can be moved to a warm frost free position. Needs very little fertilizing. Sap squeezed from fresh cut leaves used to sooth burns, sunburn, eczema and skin irritations. The sap is also good on cuts, it forms a protective seal over the cut and encourages skin regeneration.
