Glechoma hederacea - Hardy, evergreen, creeping perennial ground cover. 15cms height. Full sun to shade, but prefers shaded areas. Small pale blue flowers, in spring, summer and autumn. Excellent tonic plant for cattle and sheep, who will seek it out. An excellent medicinal plant for animals when combined with other herbs, as the other herbs depend upon the ground ivy to draw out their medicinal properties. Eaten as a salad herb, with a mild peppery flavour. Or leaves can be cooked. Can be an invasive plant, good in pots, or as a ground cover of a large area. Leaves made into a tea. Used in beer making, also used in cheese making as a rennet. A medicinal herb. Prefers moist soil. Not frost tender.
