Hibiscus coccineus - Hardy, herbaceous perennial. 1-2 metres height, 1-1.5 metres width. Full sun to part shade. Beautiful, large red flowers from summer to autumn. Although flowers only last for one day they are produced in a continuous succession. Best grown in a pond margin or bog garden, they will grow in a normal garden provided the soil receives adequate moisture. Which makes it a good plant for wet poor draining spots.  Plant depth below water should be around 10 cms. Forms upright clumps. Tolerates high humidity and heat in wet soil. Prune down to the ground when plants die back in the cold weather. Look great in a mass planting. Great Christmas time flower.
